Work from home/remotely or connect to a shared computer

Many services run on shared computers, often only allowing access from appropriate locations. Some desktop or workstation computers will also be available for remote access by their allocated users.

To access these restricted facilities within the FMRIB building your computer will need to be using an authenticated ethernet connection or a FMRIB VPN connection when using Eduroam over WiFi.

Working off-site would usually require you to connect to the FMRIB VPN, but some services are available on University of Oxford networks.

Workstations and the interactive front end to the FMRIB cluster are accessible from the command prompt system SSH. The compute cluster also has a web-based graphical front end OOD. Workstations can be configured to offer a graphical session using the VNC remote desktop system.
